TÂMEGA E SOUSA
The Intermunicipal Community of Tâmega e Sousa [Comunidade Intermunicipal do Tâmega e Sousa, in the Portuguese language], which goes by the abbreviation CIM Tâmega e Sousa, is a legal person governed by public law, with an associative nature and territorial scope.
The CIM Tâmega e Sousa aims to achieve the common interests among its 11 member municipalities, and is governed by Law no. 75/2013, of 12 September, its Statutes and other applicable legal provisions.
The CIM Tâmega e Sousa includes 11 municipalities: Amarante, Baião, Castelo de Paiva, Celorico de Basto, Cinfães, Felgueiras, Lousada, Marco de Canaveses, Paços de Ferreira, Penafiel e Resende.
It borders with the Intermunicipal Communities of Ave and Alto Tâmega to the north, the Intermunicipal Community of Viseu Dão Lafões to the south, Intermunicipal Community of Douro to the east, and the Porto Metropolitan Area to the west.
In terms of the traditional Portuguese administrative organisation, the municipalities of the CIM Tâmega e Sousa are divided into four districts: Aveiro, Braga, Porto and Viseu.
